The Kara mandarin was developed in the early 1900's and is a cross between a King tagor and an Owari satsuma. The fruit peels fairly well and has a flesh that is tender, juicy, rich and distictive. The tree is medium to large with drooping, open habit and few thorns. This crop also bears heavily in alternate years.
