The Pettingill apple chance seedling was discovered near Long Beach, California and introduced in 1949. It is a large fruit with red over green skin. Pettingill apples are crisp and juicy with a balance of sugar and acid. Pettingills are large, productive, vigours trees and are also self-fertile.
